An Inner battle… December 31, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — agtimr @ 7:18 pm

Okay so I’m cleaning my kitchen … so I have lots of time to think…so I’ve been doing just that. I think that I’ve figured something out about myself… I think I stick to things I KNOW I can do…and I try not to stray to far from that. What I mean is about two weeks ago my running buddy asked if I wanted to run a half marathon with her. I was really excited…but the closer it gets…the farther away I want it to be. So I was thinking…maybe you should just do the 10k…you know you can do that. But then I think, “Agnes…this is just like you….not wanting to push a little more because you don’t want to fail.” It’s like I’d rather stay in the light than take that faithful step into the dark… I HATE that about me. Then I think… “how many times have you just settled for what you know you can do…instead of reaching what you really want to do because you are too afraid to fail?” I don’t want to end my life thinking…”humm, I wonder if I could of been good at that?” I what to know that I tried things that I wasn’t quite sure I could do…and in some cases I found success and if I didn’t it’s okay because ATLEAST I tried.   I think that’s why primary president is SO hard to me…I feel like to be perfect at it … is just out of my reach. I guess the next part is really obvious…just change your attitude and practice MORE FAITH…they say it really can take you far…father than you ever dreamed of. It’s good to know there’s a Father in Heaven who believes WE can do more than WE believe we can,  that knowledge makes having faith in yourself a little easier.

Ditto to that! It is so hard to find the courage to venture out of the box of what you know! That is my new years resolution among with like 50 other things:)! Maybe we can encourage each other more!

Hey Agnes! I saw your blog on Sarah Painter’s blog and I decided to check it out. I know how you feel! I too am a perfectionist and sometimes I would rather not do something then fail at doing it. You are doing great as primary president, but I think even though I say that, you might not believe me because of your own high expectations. I guess its something we all struggle with. Anyway, just wanted to say hi! I’ll add you to my surfing list so you might see my comments again…

So now I’m feeling guilty about not committing to the 10K, let alone the 1/2 marathon! :) I was actually thinking today that maybe I should stick with the 2 mile fun run… :)

Have you ever seen the movie “Meet the Robinson’s”? In the moive, the little boy fails at a project and the family he is visiting is ecstatic about his failure! When he asked about their excitement, they go on to tell him that his failure is great because he learned something that DIDN’T work and can move on to the next idea. This is definitely a different perspective to take on things, but something I am going to try to live by more because, I too tend to be a perfectionist!

On a side note…I love checking your blog! You are an incredible mom with so many talents!

Hey Agnes, Just wanted to let you know that I read your blog all the time. It has been so fun, that I have decided to do one too. More info to come on that. You are so great. I love that you put so much energy into what you do. Use the word, “perfect”, lightly. We are to become perfect like Christ. That doesn’t mean right now and it doesn’t mean everything. Bite off what you can chew and chew well. You are inspiring.

    Hi Agnes!
We’ve been friends for what? 20 years now? (Holy moly, we’re getting old) I’ll tell you – you’ve ALWAYS been someone I’ve looked up to and admired. In my eyes? You can do anything you set your mind to. You always end up doing it with style and class!

You are bubbly, friendly, outgoing, creative, kind and loving. The Lord has so many great things in store for you! Primary Pres and RS Pres and two callings I knew you’d have in your lifetime! Who wouldn’t choose you to teach the children of the Church? I know I’d feel so blessed if you were my kids’ Primary Pres! I can only imagine how fun you make it for the kids and the Spirit you bring in your Presidency meetings! What lucky women who get to serve along side you!

The Lord gives us challenges so we can grow, learn and realize our true potentional. Take that blind step and who knows, you may find that you’re a good runner or that you enjoy it more than you initally thought! A little secret?? I’m planning on running the 1/2 at that run in QC! It would be super fun to run it with you!

It’s been forever since we last hung out! Now that Im much closer, let’s plan a get together! My new email: allenfamily6@yahoo.com

    Love you, girl!
